Virtual Network Computing

TightVNC  (Open Source)

VNC is the abbreviation of: Virtual Network Computing.

TightVNC is a remote control software which allows you to view and interact with one computer (the server) using a simple program (the viewer) on another computer anywhere on the Internet. The two computers don't even have to be the same type.

You can use TightVNC to view an Office Linux machine on your Windows PC at home or to help friends who are living far away without driving lots of miles.

Simply install only the Viewer on your machine if you are the one who want to help your friends and tell your friends to install the server and help them to fix problems on their machines.

If you're the one who needs help from your friends you have to install the server on your machine. Only the installation packages for e.g. Linux and Windows are different. VNC software is in active use by millions throughout industry, academia and also by many individuals.
