Open Source and Freeware  


This should be an explanation which describes the difference between Open Source and Freeware in a very short form. Below I placed two links to sites where you can read all about Open Source.


Open Source: Free of charge and the source code is available for everyone and can be changed (under the terms of the licenses) by everyone.


The licenses are always part of the setup files or archives.


Freeware: Free of charge but the source code is NOT available, cannot be changed and is copyright protected.


Very often Freeware is only free for private, non-commercial use.


Usually the programs on my pages are Freeware, the Open Source programs are marked with Open Source as link to this page.
